Guy Takayama
Takayama’s artistic journey includes a brief study of Chinese dry brush painting under a renowned second generation artist Ning Yeh. However, his passion for art ultimately led him to the airbrush room and shaping bay at his uncle’s surfboard factory, where he honed his skills through hands-on experience and self-directed exploration.
Today, Takayama’s diverse body of work spans multiple mediums, including watercolor, airbrush, gold leafing, surfboard shaping, fin design and photography. His studio in Carlsbad features a rich collection of his creations, reflecting his unique blend of artistic influences and dedication to the craft. With each piece, Takayama continues to celebrate the intersection of art and surf culture, making a lasting impact in both realms.
